FAQ

General Question

Settling children into the nursery takes place over 1-2 weeks.
All children are required to complete the first week settling. Parents and carers are asked to reserve time for the second week, should the nursery think the children need extra settling time. Should week 2 be necessary, it will be discussed with the Nursery Manager on a case-by-case basis taking into account the needs of the child regarding attendance days and hours.

We do a minimum of 2 days a week, and one of them needs to be either a Monday or a Friday. Days must be consecutive for continuity and consideration of the child’s needs.

We take children on outings most days of the week! Visits to the library, Gillespie Park and its Ecological site, Finsbury Park Playground, grocery shopping, the post office, etc. Bigger outings to the museums or zoos are planned with weeks in advance for the parents to know and sign permissions, these will be done during the core hours of the day.

We have storytelling sessions every week in our local library and we do music and movement with our practitioners. We will also hold yoga and Physical Activity sessions with the kids in the near future.

We cook all the children’s food in our on-site kitchen with seasonal ingredients, without any salt or sugar. We have 2 sets of menus, 4 menus for winter and 4 menus for summer. All members of staff hold a Food Safety & Hygiene Level 2. We communicate with families in case of allergies, vegetarianism, veganism or avoiding certain foods for religious reasons, so we can alter the menus for the needs of the child.

Our Nursery Manager acts as our Nursery SENCo and keeps training and developing strategies to support children with SEND on each particular case, from referrals if needed to liaise with external agents and health professionals from the councils. We also give support to families and parents if needed.
